Time For Your SCalp & For You
Think of it as a facial for your scalp and hair. At Air Hair Studio in Toowoomba, our Japanese head spa gives your scalp the same considered attention you give the skin on your face, while creating space to slow down and switch off.
It begins with a close look at what your scalp and hair need. Then warm steam, slow massage and the steady flow of warm water ease you into deep rest. Your scalp is cleansed and nourished, while your hair receives a Kérastase treatment selected for its specific needs. It’s considered care for your scalp and hair, with time to rest your mind, body and soul.

Japanese Head Spa Features
A private room, just for you
Your head spa takes place in our dedicated private room, away from the salon floor. The lighting is soft and the room is quiet. You lie back on a treatment bed designed for head spa. There are no hair dryers running and no conversation unless you want it. The time is yours.
Led by a qualified therapist
Your treatment is with Teryl, our qualified Japanese head spa therapist. The Japanese method has its own sequence, rhythm and pressure, and it takes proper training to do well. As Kérastase specialists, we bring that same care and training to every treatment.
Kérastase, from start to finish
We use Kérastase professional treatments throughout your head spa, chosen to suit your scalp and hair. That means your scalp is cleansed and cared for, and your hair is left feeling soft, nourished and noticeably better. It's a head spa and a proper hair treatment in one.
Your K-Scan consultation
Every head spa begins with a consultation about your scalp and hair: how they feel, what's bothering you, and what you'd like to change. We use K-Scan, a smart camera made by Kérastase and used only in Kérastase salons. It shows your scalp and hair in high definition, using three types of light to reveal details you can't see in the mirror. That includes oil, flaking, redness, and the condition of the hair itself.
We look at the images on screen together. From there, we choose the Kérastase treatments that suit your scalp and hair, and suggest a simple routine to keep things feeling good at home. It takes the guesswork out of your care.

Choose Your Experience
- Japanese Luxury Head Spa, one hour, $180.
The full ritual, from consultation to cascade rinse. Ideal as a regular reset. - Deluxe Head Spa Experience, two hours, $350.
More time for everything. Longer massage, more time in the quiet, and the most indulgent version of the treatment.
Before your head spa experience begins, we start with a 15-minute K-Scan consultation focused on the needs of your scalp and hair.
After your treatment, you can choose a complimentary dry-off or add a full-service blow-dry, so you can head back to your day or step out ready for your evening. The blow-dry is an additional cost, depending on your hair length.
What Happens During Your Head Spa
- K-Scan consultation. We spend 15 minutes talking through what your scalp and hair need, then look closely with the K-Scan camera. This shows us any buildup, dryness, oiliness or redness, so we can choose the right Kérastase treatments for you.
- Cleanse and exfoliate. A deep cleanse lifts product buildup and oil from the roots, where everyday shampooing can't reach.
- Steam. Warm steam surrounds your scalp and hair. It softens the scalp, helps the Kérastase treatments absorb, and deepens the sense of calm.
- Massage. Slow, rhythmic massage through the scalp, neck and shoulders, with a hair massage and a hand massage as well. Tension you didn't know you were holding starts to let go.
- Water fountain and cascade rinse. Warm water flows steadily over your scalp. For most people, this is the moment they remember.
- Your finish. Choose a complimentary dry-off, or add a full-service blow-dry (additional cost, depending on hair length).

A Ritual Worth Making TIme For
What you may notice afterwards
A scalp that feels clean and balanced. Hair that feels lighter, softer and shinier. A calm that often lasts well beyond the appointment.
Who it's for
It suits anyone who carries stress in their head and shoulders, uses a lot of styling product, or has a scalp that feels dry or oily. It also suits anyone who wants time that is entirely their own. Many people book it every four to six weeks, which fits well with a regular colour appointment. If you have any scalp sensitivity, let us know when you book.
A gift worth giving
For the person who has everything, give them time. A Japanese head spa is a rare kind of gift: an hour or two of complete stillness, expert care for their scalp and hair, and the feeling of leaving lighter than they arrived. It's the one they'll remember. Gift cards are available in-salon and online.
What is a Japanese Head Spa?
A Japanese head spa is a specialised scalp and hair treatment combining deep cleansing, massage, steam and targeted hair care. The experience is designed to remove product build-up, refresh the scalp and condition the hair while providing an extended period of relaxation away from the usual pace of the day.
Is a Japanese Head Spa suitable for oily scalps?
Yes, people with oily scalps may enjoy a Japanese head spa as the cleansing process can help remove excess oil and accumulated product. However, scalp needs differ between individuals. A consultation before treatment can help determine which products and techniques are appropriate without unnecessarily stripping the scalp or hair.
What should I do before a Japanese Head Spa?
There is generally little preparation required before a Japanese head spa. Arrive with your hair as it normally is unless your salon advises otherwise. It can be helpful to mention recent chemical services, scalp sensitivity, allergies and any hair or scalp concerns so the treatment can be appropriately tailored.
